It’s not just a new year, new you. It’s a new decade, new destination.
2020 is here and there’s no better way to kick off the new decade than with an awesome vacation. But where do you go? What do you do when you’re there?
Get ready to pack your bags and book your plane tickets because these are a few of the top travel destinations for 2020.
Zambia is a travel destination for the preservation purist. With more than 30% of the country’s land reserved for national parks, Zambia does as much as it can to get you up close and personal with mother nature (safely, of course). Home to more than 60 exotic animal species, including leopards, elephants and more, Zambia is full of lush flora and forests. Oh, and don’t forget about the breathtaking waterfalls and unimaginable sunsets.
New what? That’s right, you may not have heard of New Caledonia, or if you have, know where it is, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking out these isles of paradise. Still technically a French overseas territory (there are on-going talks to break off and become their own nation), New Caledonia is between Fiji and Queensland, Australia. If that geography alone doesn’t get you interested, then maybe the fact that it’s one of the least-visited places in the world will give you that remote island vibe you’ve been searching for.
The beautiful all-inclusive Jamaican beaches are great on your eyes and your wallet. Eat and drink as much as you like as you soak in all the sun on the beach or get busy playing in the water – snorkeling, sailing, scuba diving, parasailing and more. As one of the more affordable options on the list, Jamaica is hosting a 75th birthday celebration this year for the late Bob Marley. So get up, stand up ... and stir it up in 2020 with a trip to Jamaican paradise.
When you hear U.K., your first thought probably flashes to London. But if you just fix your gaze a little further north, you’ll see all that Scotland has to offer visitors. Everything from some of the friendliest townsfolk in Fort William and breathtaking castles and monuments in Edinburgh to dazzling highland hillsides in Inverness and ancient pubs galore in Glasgow. Seriously, if you can deal with a little rain, it doesn’t get any quainter than a trip to Scotland. The magical country also offers you a once in a lifetime chance to hop on the Hogwarts Express for those Harry Potter fans.
Does it get any better traveling to what is dubbed one of the world’s happiest countries? Just look at the colorful merchant houses and you’ll see what sets this old Viking fishing town apart in the positive mood department. And if you’re a fan of cycling or into cutting-edge restaurants, don’t sleep on Cope. And for those looking for something a little different than a summer getaway, try visiting Copenhagen in the winter to check out their artificial ski spot, Copenhill.
Wyoming, United States
You might be saying to yourself, “what Wyoming is doing on this list with the likes of Scotland’s history and Jamaica’s beaches?” But maybe you just don’t know Wyoming. From Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, Wyoming is one of the least populated states in the U.S., which means you’ve got a lot of land and sights and few people to stand in your way of enjoying them. Its natural beauty alone and love for the great outdoors make this one of the last true pillars of the American West. And speaking of history, you can thank Wyoming for becoming not only the first state to allow women to vote but also to hold office. Remote, yet progressive.
Wherever 2020 takes you, just remember it’s a new year and a new decade made for fresh starts. But if you’ve got some not so fresh photos and videos from some of your favorite past vacations, don’t let them fade over another 10 years. Send them to us and we’ll digitize them, so your old memories can stay unforgettable treasures for years and years to come.
