At Home
Gingerbread houses are always the greatest fun, whether you’re a kiddo and intent on eating the gumdrops, or whether you’re a bit more calculated and practically a gingerbread architect!
Decorate your doors like a Christmas present under the tree. Most people do this for their front door, but get in the Holiday spirit and use some wrapping paper and ribbon to do bedroom doors. Let each family member choose their favorite paper, and wrap away!
Here’s a double whammy for you! Christmas movie night, while everyone gathers to string popcorn for the tree!
Paper snowflakes are always a classic. Grab a sheet of 8x11” stock, fold, and clip away. Hang snowflakes in the windows or on a sliding glass door to create a winter wonderland!
Out and About
Some of my best childhood memories are the family trekking out to the Christmas Tree Farm, for hot chocolate, a hayride, and a joint family effort to choose and chop down the right tree, before taking it home to be decorated with the traditional cache of family ornaments.
Pull out those gently used toys and warm clothes, to deliver to women’s and homeless shelters. That generous holiday spirit is what it is all about!!
Arrange a socially distant caroling adventure. Go in small family groups, and stand on the patios. The music will bring joy to both singers and listeners. Some listeners might even join in!
Seek out a Holiday Lights trail! This year, most trails are accepting carloads only, but cherish the time with the family, listen to some Christmas tunes, and love your time with the best in your life.
